Douglas Lake Minerals has started the diamond drilling program at its Kwandege’s Handeni West gold target.
The company has planned for drilling of the 5,000 m in total during the phase I exploratory program in an area of around 7.2 sq km of the presently delineated target of 18 sq km.
The company identified the anomalous gold values ranging between 60 ppb and 4900 ppb in the mineralized Kwandege target, through the soil sampling program.
Douglas Lake has proposed a drilling program along the significant mineralization axis, which are trending WNW-ESE over 2.2 km distance and thickness between 400 and 800 m. Artisanal workings that extend to 400 m are included in the target area. The company outlined the drill targets along the axis of mineralization through IP and magnetic targets, soil geochemical anomalies and lithological borders as exposed in the excavations of the artisanal hard rock. A close relationship between the results of the geophysics and soil geochemical, especially the resistivity information, is employed as the key guideline for this drilling phase.
The company used a firm global industry standard QA/QC protocol regarding sampling and independent laboratory methods. An International Independent consulting firm, SRK has offered a peripheral monitoring of these measurements from the commencement of the drilling campaign.
