Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular as the world switches to greener energy sources, and lithium is a crucial component of the batteries used in them. However, the current procedures for extracting lithium from the spodumene in the widely spread lithium pegmatite ore deposits are costly and harmful to the environment.
These issues are addressed by Medaro’s Technology, which has been developing for nearly two years. It streamlines the lithium extraction process and reduces its negative effects on the environment.
Lithium and aluminum are efficiently and sustainably extracted from spodumene using the technology, which combines physical and chemical procedures. The following are the key characteristics of the technology:
- From spodumene concentrates with a wide range of Li2O concentrations, it will quickly produce high-purity lithium carbonate and/or lithium hydroxide monohydrate.
- Only three feedstock ingredients are needed. (Spodumene concentrate, carbon dioxide, and water).
- It will be extremely scalable, small, modular, and suitable for deployment in remote locations.
- It generates a marketable by-product of commercial-grade aluminum hydroxide or oxide.
- It can be powered entirely by green electricity.
- It produces only a negligible quantity of environmental waste due to its closed-loop internal recycling design, which considerably decreases overall processing time and costs.
When all of the aforementioned factors are taken into account, the technology has the potential to lower overall spodumene processing costs by at least 30% to 50%.
We are thrilled to have filed PPAs on this ground-breaking technology. Our team has been working tirelessly to develop a solution that makes spodumene-sourced lithium extraction more sustainable, and we believe this technology is a major step in that direction.

Medaro is now completing preparations to construct its first pilot plant in the United States. The technology has previously undergone successful bench-scale laboratory testing. To further develop the lithium mining business, the company is also looking into collaborations with other mining companies in a variety of capacities.
