MENA Declares Oil Production at Lagia Oil Field

MENA Hydrocarbons, a global oil and gas company, has declared the results of its Lagia 6 re-entry, situated on its 100% owned Lagia Development Lease, located in Egypt. The Lagia 6 re-entry is the first of the two re-entries in its six wells.

On behalf of MENA and the Egyptian Petroleum Company, PetroSinai, a partnership company, works on the leased Lagia Development in Egypt. Petrosinai has commenced oil production in the Lagia oil field. Actually, the Lagia 6 well, which was drilled in 2000, has been re-entered and re-perforated in the Nukhul formation and currently, is producing oil for one week. Under clean up, the well has produced about 150 barrels of oil/day. Now, it produces around 60 barrels of clean oil/ day through a progressive cavity pump, to perform a similar task, the rig has been shifted to Lagia 7 well, which was also drilled in 2000. Furthermore, the rig will move to Lagia 8, a new well. The Lagia 8 will be fractured further to improve the production potential of the Nukhul completed wells.

The Chief Executive Officer and President of the company, Mr. Graham Lyon said that the company is happy with the results obtained from Lagia 6 well and is looking forward to the drilling of four new wells. Cyclic steam technology or fracturing will be used in the four new wells, which were not used in Lagia 6 and 7 wells, due to the hole design. The use of these modern technologies will further improve the flow rates of the new wells, added Lyon.
