Namibia Rare Earths Reports Drill Results from Lofdal Project

Namibia Rare Earths has obtained the assay results from the initial 15 holes concluded in the Area 4 resource drill campaign on the Lofdal Rare Earth Project located in northwestern Namibia.

Overall, 38 holes have been completed for 4,500 m which also include two massive core holes to get mineralized zone samples for metallurgical analysis.

Highlights of the drill program include an intercept of 7 m of 1.14% total rare earth oxides enriched with 90.6% heavy rare earth elements. The resource campaign is expected to be concluded by April end and dispatch of the mineral resource report that is NI 43-101 compliant will be completed in the Q3 of 2012.

The geophysical surveys, which were completed recently, have defined five fresh exploration targets and outlined the core shear corridor from Area 4 for a 6.5 km strike length. Assay results from these drill holes validate the continuity of mineralization enriched with heavy rare earth elements with similar thicknesses and grades to prior reported results from Area 4.

The latest results include:

  • 0.58% total rare earth oxides over 15.00 m with 91.2% heavy rare earth element enrichment including 4.00% total rare earth oxides over 1.00 m with 98.5% heavy rare earth element enrichment.
  • 0.53% total rare earth oxides over 12.00 m with 68.5% heavy rare earth element enrichment, including 0.95% total rare earth oxides over 3.00 m with 88.3% heavy rare earth element enrichment.
  • 0.44% total rare earth oxides over 28.00 m with 74.2% heavy rare earth element enrichment, including 1.14% total rare earth oxides over 7.00 m with 90.6% heavy rare earth element enrichment.
  • 0.43% total rare earth oxides over 9.41 meters with 90.7% HREE enrichment, including 1.45% TREO over 1.00 m with 98.7% heavy rare earth element enrichment.
  • 0.38% total rare earth oxides over 12.41 m with 70.7% heavy rare earth element enrichment, including 0.73% total rare earth oxides over 1.46 m with 88.4% heavy rare earth element enrichment.
  • 0.33% total rare earth oxides over 20.00 m with 70.4% heavy rare earth element HREE enrichment, including 1.99% total rare earth oxides over 1.00 m with 90.3% total rare earth oxides enrichment,
  • 0.30% total rare earth oxides over 19.25 m with 82.7% total rare earth oxides enrichment, including 0.88% total rare earth oxides over 2.00 m with 97.1% heavy rare earth element enrichment.

Additionally, the down hole widths that were reported are not the actual widths. Construed dips of the mineralized zones range from 450 to 800 and all the drill holes were drilled at -550.
