LPA Screens - An Overview and Benefits

A leading materials company, NanoSteel, has carved a niche for itself by developing innovative and proprietary environment-friendly steel alloys based on nanotechnology. These steel alloys greatly enhance the value of steel to a great extent in many industrial applications.

The NanoSteel’s Super Hard Steel (SHS) alloys are nanoscale microstructures used as metallic coatings in various industries such as mining, oil & gas, power generation, cement, and concrete. The SHS alloys are applied to industrial components using thermal spray and weld overlay processes , thereby enhancing the service life in environments of wear and corrosion and preventing expensive replacements/alternatives and environmentally harmful chrome plating.

Nanosteel LPA Screens

NanoSteel’s LPA Screens utilize its patented and proprietary SHS 8000 thermal spray coating, which guarantees successful protection of dry scrubber components and boiler tubes from corrosion and erosion.

Advantages of the SHS 8000 Thermal Spray Coated LPA Screens

The advantages of LPA screens are:

  • Better erosion resistance – The performance of NanoSteel patented nanotechnology-based steel alloy coating has been consistently outstanding in comparison to the traditional steel coatings and untreated carbon steel during laboratory and field trial tests.

  • Better bind strength - ASTM C633-01 testing performed on NanoSteel coating shows that a bond is maintained on carbon steel up to 11,400 psi without failure.
  • High toughness - The SHS 8000 coating provides ductility even at high temperature, thus allowing the coating to deform with the substrate during impact, and hence prevents cracking, chipping or delaminating.
  • SCR catalyst protection - The LPA Screens sustain their geometry for a longer time and prevent the build up of ash, which causes expensive damage to the SCR reactor and the catalyst layers.
  • Designed to suit existing or new screen systems - NanoSteel provides ready-to-install LPA screens built to specific print or dimensions in many different design patterns and sizes when required.
