/span>The Marble Falls limestone formation in Jack County, Texas, is yielding strong results for Halek Energy, LLC, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company based in Southlake, Texas.
For the first full month of production in August, Halek Energy's Johnson 8H well generated oil production of 12,710 barrels and gas production of 48,557 thousand cubic feet, according to publicly available production data filed with the Texas Railroad Commission (August 2010 API# 42-237-39336). The Johnson 8H well was completed and began producing during July, 2010.
"The Halek Energy Johnson 8H project demonstrates that innovative well design, combined with a high level of expertise in horizontal drilling techniques, can yield notable results," said Jason Halek, CEO of Halek Energy.
The Johnson 8H Halek Energy well is an innovative pilot well, designed to successfully drill horizontally in the Marble Falls limestone formation. The novel well design has not previously been attempted in this formation. The Marble Falls formation is part of the Bend Arch-Fort Worth Basin Province, a major petroleum producing geological system primarily located in north central Texas and southwestern Oklahoma.
Halek Energy uses modern drilling technologies to achieve strongly deviated wells that, given sufficient depth and with the proper tools, actually become horizontal.
A horizontal wellbore placed in a production zone has more surface area in the production zone than a vertical well, resulting in a higher production rate. Through its innovative horizontal oil and gas well drilling programs, Halek Energy strives to achieve superior enhanced oil and gas recovery results.
"The Halek Energy team is delighted to achieve excellent results from the horizontal drilling efforts we've undertaken in the Marble Falls limestone formation, and we look forward to continued strong production," said Halek. "I congratulate my Halek Energy colleagues for this accomplishment."
