WestKam Gold Corp. ("WestKam" or the "Company") reported today that, following a month-long postponement due to dry forest conditions, exploration teams and equipment are now moving onto the Bonaparte Project for the 2015 Exploration Drilling Program.
The Bonaparte Project is located 35 kilometres northwest of Kamloops, British Columbia on well-maintained gravel roads. Kamloops provides most of the necessary infrastructure and services.
WestKam plans to test a number of prospective targets at Bonaparte where anomalous gold and copper soil geochemistry and coincident IP chargeability and resistivity anomalies have been delineated. The targets include the down-dip and southern extensions of the high-grade gold mineralization in quartz veins encountered in the Discovery Zone. In addition, several parallel zones of anomalous geochemistry and geophysics are to be tested for Discovery Zone style mineralization, as well as for evidence of copper-gold porphyry system processes.
During WestKam's 2014 exploration program, both the Discovery Zone and porphyry potential were advanced significantly. The 2015 program represents an important follow-up to the results achieved from last year's work, which included mapping and prospecting, Volterra 3D IP and magnetic geophysical surveys and soil geochemistry.
The Volterra 3D IP and ground magnetic surveys substantially extended the strike length of the high-grade Discovery gold zone trend in 2014. The extent of the zone's chargeability and resistivity anomalies has now been traced 1.2 kms from the Discovery Zone to the south-southeast, and the zone remains open. These discoveries, along with the chargeability and resistivity signatures, provide a number of attractive drill targets for 2015.
All appropriate permits are in place for the 2015 Drilling Program, and recent clear cut logging on the property has afforded WestKam excellent access logistics, supporting an efficient program.
WestKam is also pleased to announce it has renewed its relationship with Stk'emlupsemc te Secwepemc Nation ("SSN"). A renewal agreement includes a framework for WestKam's continued activities on SSN's traditional territory, including the carrying out of a cultural heritage study.
