WestKam Gold Corp. ("WestKam" or the "Company") has identified a large new target area on the Company's Bonaparte Project located 50 kilometres northwest of Kamloops, British Columbia. The new zone, called Cooler Creek, has been identified and interpreted from gold intercepts and geological information obtained in the company's recently-completed drill program, combined with previous soil geochemistry and geophysical results.
The Cooler Creek Zone lies approximately 200 meters from the eastern edge of the property's original Discovery Zone. In particular, hole DDH-15-05, located roughly 500 metres east of the Crow/Grey Jay/Owl veins of the Discovery Zone, encountered veins in granodiorite with the same type of mineralization as the Discovery Zone. Hole DDH-15-05 assayed 7.88 g/t Gold, (0.253 oz/t Gold), 38.4 g/t Silver, 0.33% Copper and 28.6 g/t Tellurium over 1.0 meters (as reported in WestKam's November 16 News Release).
"With the identification of the Cooler Creek Zone, we now have a significant land play at Bonaparte," said Matt Wayrynen, Westkam's president and CEO. "Cooler Creek looks like it could be a lot larger than the Discovery Zone, and it gives us a vast area of drill targets with excellent access logistics for our planned 2016 program. We also see that this zone remains open to the north."
The 2015 program marked an important departure from previous drill exploration at Bonaparte, which has been traced by geophysics and soil geochemistry for approximately 1.2 kms north-south and 1.2 kms east-west had focused entirely on the Discovery Zone. However, past reconnaissance work outside of the Discovery Zone had amassed a large amount of data indicating larger mineral trends lying roughly parallel with the Discovery Zone. "We knew from the interpretation of geophysics and the many geochemical anomalies that something was there," said Wayrynen. "This was why we budgeted for three holes to test this area east of the Discovery Zone."
Wayrynen also praised the work of the geologists and drillers. "To have come up with this amount of valuable data from only seven holes was quite remarkable. With a very limited budget, we moved the project ahead significantly. I'm looking forward to an expanded program in 2016."
WestKam's Q4 2015 Update provides additional information about the Cooler Creek Zone and the 2015 drill program. It can be viewed here.
