First Mining Gold Corp. (“First Mining” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the commencement of a regional exploration diamond drilling campaign at the Company’s wholly-owned Goldlund Gold Project (“Goldlund” or the “Project”) in northwestern Ontario.
The drill program is designed to test the extension of the known mineralized trend approximately 10 kilometres northeast of the mineralized material of the current resource area (see Figure 1). The drilling program will focus on showings at the Miller and Eaglelund targets and will include approximately 13 holes totaling 1,850 metres. The primary objective for this summer’s program is to verify historical sampling and drilling results, outline new resources and demonstrate the potential of the northeastern section of the Goldlund land package.
Jeff Swinoga, President & CEO of First Mining stated, “We are very excited to commence this regional drilling of our large land package at Goldlund as historic showings indicate the potential for additional gold discoveries at the property. The recent successful drilling campaigns at Goldlund focused on only 2 to 3 kilometres of the property and provided us with invaluable insight and knowledge that we expect will prove beneficial when drilling these two highly prospective areas along the estimated 50 kilometre strike length of the property.”
The Company completed regional mapping and surface grab sampling on the property prior to this drilling program. The grab samples collected from the Miller showing returned assays from 0.3 grams per tonne gold to 4.9 grams per tonne gold.
