Buenaventura Resumes Operations at Uchucchacua Mine

Compañia de Minas Buenaventura S.A.A. ("Buenaventura" or "the Company"), Peru's largest publicly-traded precious metals mining company, is pleased to announce that it has resumed operations at its Uchucchacua mine.

As was reported on January 11, 2019, the Contractors' Union at Buenaventura's Uchucchacua mine had initiated a strike on January 9, 2019. The strike lasted 21 days, during which time Buenaventura took the opportunity to perform maintenance at the operation.

While Uchucchacua's 1Q19 production will likely be affected by the resulting production lapse, the Company is focused on offsetting the impact in subsequent quarters. Buenaventura therefore maintains its production guidance for the full year 2019, and will continue to provide relevant updates.

It is important to note that this strike was determined to be illegal by the Peruvian Labor Authority.
