Q-Gold Resources Ltd has secured its exploration permit, enabling the company to begin drilling on its fully owned Mine Centre Property immediately as part of its 2022 exploration program.
The fall diamond drilling program aims to expand the known mineralization of the Bonanza and Jumbo veins, which were mined at the Foley mine in the early 1900s, to the north and northwest. The program will also look for coincidental anomalies reported by the LiDAR and MMITM soil surveys that were done this summer.
We have keenly awaited the exploration permit to initiate the follow-up drilling to our successful 2021 campaign, and are ready in the field to commence this new phase of exploration aiming at extending the strike length of the gold-bearing veins at our Mine Centre project. Last year’s good results have encouraged us to continue on this path.

About the Existing Mine Centre Property
Q-Gold has 10,000+ acres of interconnected mining claims, Crown leases, and leasehold patents in the historic Mine Centre gold camp of the 1890s, which generated 16,025 oz of gold from the Foley Gold Mine and the Golden Star Mine.
The Foley Gold Mine was first developed in the 1890s, with the Foley Shaft being sunk to the 400' level. During this period, 10,500 tons of ore at 14 g/t were mined from stopes at the 100' level, yielding 5,267 oz of gold between 1898 and 1900. Between 1923 and 1927, an estimated $12 million in total development work was completed, including an offset Shaft 400'–850', a winze 400' to 150', and 2.5+ km of drifts on 7 levels.
Due to the start of the Great Depression, operations were suspended in 1927.
Previous drilling by Q-Gold between 2005 and 2012 confirmed the Foley Gold Mine as a massive deposit of gold-bearing veins with an outstanding image of the mine's gold potential from the surface to the 122 m level. The following high-grade gold intercepts stand out among the drill results:
- Foley—Hole Q-BV-10-1—106.7 g/t Au—Over 0.23 m
- Foley—Hole Q-05-08—53.47 g/t Au—Over 1.5 m
- Foley—Hole Q-BV-12-06—33.38 g/t Au—Over 1.05 m
The property is proximal to two key gold discoveries 95 km on either side of Mine Centre: Rainy River (New Gold) (4.5 M oz. Au & 11.4 M oz. Ag) & Hammond Reef (Agnico Eagle) (4.5 M oz.). It also has favorable logistics with immediate access to Highway 11 and is situated 250 km Northwest of Thunder Bay and 65 km Northeast of the US border.
The McKenzie Gray Vein System, a gold-silver vein system with 6,594 m of drilling indicating the occurrence of high-grade quartz veins down to 100 m, is another area of interest on the property. Along with the Manhattan, Fergus, and Golden Star Vein Systems; all of which are high-potential gold vein prospects affording fantastic optionality at Mine Centre.
