Field workers have discovered Lithium-Cesium-Tantalum (LCT) pegmatites on the MegaLi lithium project, which is situated in the James Bay region of Quebec, according to a report from Spod Lithium Corp. The Corvette property claims of Patriot Battery Metals Inc. are bordered by several claim blocks. The LG4 reservoir is about 50 km to the southwest of the MegaLi Property.
The program’s main goal was to assess the lithium potential of the MegaLi Property and find new LCT pegmatites through geological mapping and sampling. Despite some difficult weather conditions, the field trip was completed between October 23rd and October 28th, 2022, and SPOD is delighted with the promising outcomes at this early stage of the exploration cycle and is awaiting the follow-up exploration program that is currently being planned.
The claims Block A, C, and D merit a more thorough follow-up, according to the Dahrouge Geological Consulting report created in connection with the initial exploration program on the MegaLi Property.
Tantalum (Ta) results in up to 114 ppm and cesium (Cs) results up to 126 ppm indicate that the findings from claim Block D are a true exploration success.
When combined with high Rubidium (Rb) values of 2,480 ppm, this level of enrichment serves as a proximity indicator for pegmatites that contain spodumene. The presence of large pegmatites along with these potent geochemical signatures draws comparisons to the CV pegmatite system.
Strong Rb-Ta anomalies are also seen in Block C, which could be connected to the same 5-km trend.
A pluri-kilometric trend of Rb-Ta anomalies that are close to a north-east Proterozoic dyke with a distinct magnetic signature are also highlighted in Bloc A. Claim Block F was not visited because of the difficult weather conditions, which marked the end of the initial exploration program.
Spod Lithium Corp. also expressed appreciation for Patriot Battery Metals for the drill results they reported earlier this week in hole CV22-083, which revealed a 156.9 m interval grading 2.12% LiO2 at the CV5 pegmatite. Block C of the MegaLi Property is not far from the CV5 LCT pegmatite—less than 3 km to the northeast.
The MegaLi project of Spod Lithium consists of 78 mining claims that together enclose 3,996.67 hectares (40 km2). The MegaLi Property is located in the James Bay region of the province of Québec near the Patriots Corvette Project, the Trans-Taiga Road, the airport, and the power line infrastructural corridor.
