Abcourt Mines Inc. (Abcourt or the Corporation) announced that diamond drilling has begun on level 295 of the Sleeping Giant mine.
The primary goal of the ongoing drilling is to optimize the definition of the DAC 5 stope, which is situated about 100 m from shaft 2 and between levels 235 and 295. With the help of this initiative, mine development planning will be strengthened, and the ground will be ready for production to begin on these levels in a few weeks.
The key points of the drilling objectives are as follows:
- Optimization of the definition of the DAC 5 site: This step, which is concentrated between levels 235 and 295, is essential for fine-tuning the stope's details and guaranteeing accurate development planning.
- Test of the western extension of the DAC 5 site: Investigating this path will facilitate the sub-levels’ westward advancement and create new opportunities for the mine site’s expansion.
- Top to Top Sub-Level 2 Test: Abcourt hopes to successfully plan vertical development to a third sub-level by evaluating this section.
The DAC 5 stope will be ready to operate as one of the first stops during the phased start of gold mining, thanks to the significant contribution these drilling initiatives will make to mine planning.
The Sleeping Giant Mill is actively handling 5,000 tons of bulk sampling sourced from the Pershing-Manitou deposit. Presently, the mill's inventory stands at nearly 50%. The commencement of gold pours will initiate once the mill achieves a full inventory of 100%. This milestone is anticipated to be reached within the first half of January.
We were all very eager to begin the underground drilling work. This represents another step towards the execution of the pre-feasibility study planned towards the end of 2024. As we end 2023, we wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season, and would like to thank all our employees and partners who support us in becoming the next gold producer in Quebec. We anticipate the year 2024 with enthusiasm and energy.
