MAX Power Mining Corp. has significantly widened the finding area at its Willcox Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, as the property’s first-ever diamond drilling proceeds.
Highlights:
- The possibility of a massive system of lithium-rich clays beneath the Willcox Playa is further supported by the discovery of a dominant lithium claystone sequence intersected by diamond drill hole WP-23-02, a 1,640-foot (500-meter) step-out to the west of discovery hole WP-23-01, from the top of the hole to the base of the hole at 998 feet
- At depths of 112, 358, 458, and 598 feet, numerous separate fluid sequences were also found in WP-23-02, similar to WP-23-01. Interestingly, these non-potable liquid prospects could contain lithium mineralization, contributing to the geological setting's distinctiveness
- The lithium mineralization in the claystone in both drill holes completed so far appears to be much more intense and widespread than the positive results reported by the USGS in its historic 1978 reverse circulation test drill hole completed 5.5 miles northwest of WP-23-02 and 6 miles northwest of WP-23-01, according to guidance from a portable handheld tool called the Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy Z-903 (LIBS)
- The third drill hole for MAX Power will soon begin; it will be a 1,640-foot step-out that is located to the south of WP-23-02. The triangle formed by this third hole will be around 1,640 feet by 1,640 feet by 2,300 feet
First-ever systematic drilling of the Willcox Playa continues to be extremely encouraging and strongly supports the discovery model we presented in early December. We have a target-rich corridor extending 6 miles from the northeast to the southwest.
