Dios Exploration is planning a late spring follow-up field campaign on five James Bay lithium sites in the Lower Eastmain Greenstone region.
Last September, a comprehensive mapping and sampling initiative was conducted on four wholly-owned properties: LeCaron, Lithium-Nord, Nemiscau-Nord, and East-Clarkie. The primary objective of this program was to investigate Lithium-bearing pegmatites (specifically the LCT type) within specific target areas that were deemed favorable.
However, due to time constraints and limited accessibility via helicopter and ground transportation, the field program conducted by Dios only encompassed less than 12 % of the claims associated with these four projects. Consequently, a follow-up endeavor is planned to promptly explore the extensive unexplored areas within these claims.
The identification of abnormal values in LCT-type elements was deemed significant to establish regional objectives for a subsequent exploration initiative or enhance the understanding of unit geochemistry.
Anomalous values were obtained from certain samples during the exploration of lithium-bearing pegmatites.
429333: 286 ppm Li2O (133 ppm Li), 63 ppm Cesium, 295 ppm Rb, 0.25 ppm Ta
429086 = 53.8 ppm Li2O (25 ppm Li), 80.4 ppm Cs, 592 ppm Rb, 2.8 ppm Ta
429068 = 30.1 ppm Li2O (14 ppm Li), 11.1 ppm Cs, 725 ppm Rb, 0.25 ppm Ta
Rocks with fertile signatures were also obtained in the northwestern-most part of the Lithium-Nord property, where the Nb/Ta versus Mg/Li ratio values correspond to fertile magma (Selway et al. 2005).
This area aligns with the western periphery of the Uskawasis3 unit, as mapped by the MERN, located just south of lake sediments that yield high lithium values. This particular sector shows potential for the occurrence of LCT pegmatites or, at the very least, more evolved magma.
In the 2023 small exploration program, 141 samples were gathered from 194 outcrops and subjected to analysis using ICP-MS after undergoing sodium peroxide fusion at SGS laboratories. To ensure accuracy, seven control samples were included, accounting for approximately 5 % of the total samples. It is worth noting that no lithium minerals were detected in the pegmatites.
In 2024, the upcoming exploration activities will prioritize the Lithium-Nord and LeCaron projects. Additionally, efforts will be directed toward advancing the East Clarkie and Eastern LeCaron projects, including recently acquired claims. A preliminary assessment is scheduled for the Pontax-Nord project. A significant portion of claims still have yet to be explored.
