Churchill Resources Inc. announced that drilling for its Taylor Brook nickel project is set to begin in September.
Key highlights from the initial follow-up in the first two areas along the TB Magmatic Trend include:
TBSL-1 Area
The company has identified a substantial, highly conductive target spanning over 650m+, drilling to follow a Time-Domain Electromagnetic (“TDEM”) survey. This target is strategically located at the intersection of the TB Magmatic Trend and the southern lobe of the Taylor Brook Gabbro Complex (TBGC).
Four significant lower chargeability targets have been identified through prospecting, attributed to thick magnetite-rich units within the South Lobe gabbro. These targets, along with anomalous levels of titanium, vanadium, chromium, and iron found in coincident soil samples, suggest the presence of differentiated intrusion-type mineralization in the TBGC.
Layden Extension Area
Drilling will occur in Layden Extension Area (800m+) after TDEM survey identification of the very high chargeability target TB-06 on TB Magmatic Trend.
Our 2024 ground geophysical program at Taylor Brook has successfully generated two compelling, large, very high IP chargeability targets in geological settings encouraging for nickel sulfide deposits.
Paul Sobie, CEO, Churchill Resources Inc.
Sobie said, “TB-01 is just within the South Lobe of the TBGC, now shown by our exploration to be a layered intrusive complex potentially prospective for Ti-V-Cr-Fe, and PGE-nickel-copper mineralization. TB-01 is located at the junction with the 13km long, linear TB Magmatic Trend resistivity low feature, with coincident, highly anomalous Ni-Cu-Co soil samples at surface.”
“TB-06 on the Layden Extension Grid, lies at the head of the TB Magmatic Trend some 10km from TB-01, and ~1 km northeast of the high-grade Layden mineralization. Both IP high chargeability targets are near surface and hundreds of meters long, reach 200+ meters wide, and are receiving TDEM and prospecting surveys in the next few weeks, to be followed with drill testing in September,” added Sobie
As previously announced, four priority target areas along the TB Magmatic Trend have been identified with compelling exploration results. So far in 2024, detailed follow-up work has been completed on the Layden Extension Area and the TBSL-1/Gravity Area.
Along the magmatic intrusive system known as the "TB Magmatic Trend," which stretches 13 km southeast from the Layden Nickel Showing area to the Taylor Brook Gabbro Complex ("TGBC") South Lobe, the company has continued its previously announced line-cutting, Induced Polarization ("IP"), and Controlled Source Audio Magneto-Telluric ("CSAMT") geophysical surveys.
The goal of the TDEM geophysical surveys over the most desirable IP targets is to find conductor targets inside the larger chargeability anomalies. This week, preparations for the drill pads will also begin. To test these targets, drilling is anticipated to start in mid-September 2024.
TBSL-1 Chargeability Target TB-01
Within the Southern Lobe of the Taylor Brook Gabbro Complex, work at the TBSL-1 Grid has identified significant chargeability targets that align with soil anomalies. Prospecting has revealed that targets TB-01 to TB-05 have not been found to outcrop. In contrast, the weaker chargeability associated with targets TB-02 to TB-05 is attributed to sub-horizontal magnetite layers within the gabbro.
This geological setting, similar to the Black Thor – Eagle's Nest area in Ontario's Ring of Fire, is conducive to Fe-Ti-V-Cr (iron-titanium-vanadium-chromium) mineralization, and possibly PGE-nickel-copper deposits. The soil samples collected over these targets show extremely anomalous levels of Fe-Ti-V-Cr elements. Currently, grab samples are being analyzed, with results expected soon.
Target TB-01, in particular, exhibits a chargeability response with an exceptionally high component, differing from TB-02 to TB-05. This is consistent with measurements of physical properties from core and rock samples containing massive, semi-massive, and net-textured nickel sulfide mineralization at Layden. Additionally, soils over TB-01 show unusually high levels of cobalt, nickel, and copper.
Layden Extension Chargeability Target TB-06
A very strong chargeability anomaly has been identified through follow-up geophysical surveys, coinciding with the interpreted head of the TB Magmatic Trend resistivity low feature. Target TB-06, which extends approximately 1000 meters, has been delineated and is accessible to the southeast along the trend. Weaker chargeability features, targets TB-07 and TB-08, appear to map the Layden mineralization along the strike to the north.
Target TB-06, in particular, exhibits an exceptionally high chargeability response, consistent with physical property measurements from rocks and cores containing massive, semi-massive, and net-textured nickel sulfide mineralization at Layden. This suggests the potential presence of a mixture of semi-massive and dispersed sulfides in this zone. Gradient IP data indicates that TB-06 may extend beyond 1000 meters, continuing off the grid to the south, where line-cutting has begun to allow geophysical surveys to track the full extent of the anomaly.
