Miata Metals Corp. has provided a corporate and exploration update on the Sela Creek Gold Project, situated in the Sipaliwini District of Suriname, South America.
Highlights
- To create the logistical plan necessary to begin drilling at Sela Creek in the upcoming months, the Company is collaborating with contractors.
- By the end of September, a LiDAR survey across Sela Creek should be finished.
- The company is actively working to incorporate all available historical and current data into a geological model for the Nassau Project and the Sela Creek Gold Project.
- A trenching project of 2,000 m will be based on the geological model, and work is anticipated to start soon.
Miata Metals is well on the way to begin drilling Sela Creek. With the data collected in July providing valuable context to the historical data, we are working on a renewed interpretation of mineralization on the Project. We are looking forward to using this data for a comprehensive trenching and drilling campaign. To that end, contractors are currently on site to assess the best logistical route to use. We are grateful to have strong local Surinamese partnerships that have enabled us to quickly and efficiently advance multiple work streams to put us in a position to drill Sela Creek by the end of the year.

Drilling Logistics
Currently, company contractors are on Sela Creek figuring out the best way to get access so they can transport drill equipment. Miata is determining the best kind of drill equipment to use for its initial drill targets, which may be drilled down to a depth of 250 m and are either exposed or mined at the surface. The Tapanahony River, as well as roads and trails, can be used to facilitate the mobilization of equipment.
LiDAR
A LiDAR scan is supposed to be flown over the whole Sela Creek Project before the end of September. Using LiDAR data, the company will be able to locate structures and possibly mineralized areas using extremely high-resolution topographical data. It will also benefit planning access roads and other infrastructure that will be necessary to expand the Sela Creek exploratory operations.
Geological Model
To identify prospective gold-bearing veins and trenching and drill targets, the company is developing a geological model that will incorporate all historical trenching, sampling, and drilling data.
The historical database, recent sample, and historical and contemporary satellite imagery are used to determine the relative confidence levels of the interpreted gold-bearing veins that are predicted to direct Miata toward the high-confidence targets. The Company anticipates finishing these tasks in the next two weeks, at which point it will schedule a program of trenching and drilling.
Plans call for the first 2,000 m of trenching objectives on the Sela Creek and Nassau gold sites. Once the targets are determined, trenching at Sela Creek is scheduled to begin as soon as feasible. Soon after, the company plans to begin drilling. The turnaround time for fire assay findings on samples using Filab Suriname N.V. is less than two weeks. This enables the business to quickly exploit the findings for further initiatives.
