Drilling has begun at the Myall Creek project owned by Strategic Energy Resources on 29 January 2011. The poor weather had been the cause of delay of the drilling for some months now. Three drill holes will be dug in the week long program and the results would be in by the end of the first quarter.
Strategic Energy Resources is a 50% owner of the Myall Creek Copper Project located in the southern Stuart Shelf between Whyalla and Port Augusta, South Australia. The copper project covers an area of 381 square kilometers and is on the eastern margin of the Gawler Craton.
This is a mineral rich zone in South Australia where copper and base metals have been found over a wide spread region. The mineralization is found in a range of Proterozoic host rocks in the area. The Strategic Energy Resources exploration program is currently based on a prospect called Honeymoon Dam.
The exploration program is for three holes at 150 meters depth along a dirt road. The Honeymoon Dam prospective project is about two and half km south of the Myall Creek mineralization area. The depths here are supposed to be in the range of 50 to 150 meters.
