Northern Gold Mining Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NGM) announced today assay results for four more diamond drill holes totaling 954 meters in the Company's ongoing 30,000 meter drill program at the Garrcon Deposit on the Garrison Gold Property.
A total of 18 holes (3,871 meters) have been reported to date for the drill program that began May, 2010.
"Results from our 2010/11 drill program continue to define additional areas of mineralization demonstrating the potential for an open pit bulk-tonnage gold deposit," said Martin Shefsky, President and CEO of Northern Gold Mining, "This program continues with two drills focusing on systematic infill and definition drilling that will be used in the updated 43-101 resource calculation expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2011."
Both GAR-10-25 and GAR-10-26 have long downhole intervals with average grades at and above resource grades with significant intervals of plus 1 g/t gold. GAR-10-27 and GAR-10-28 are shorter holes that focused on defining the southern edge of mineralization along Section 13+00W to 13+50W.
GAR-10-25 was collared approximately on Section line 13+25W and was drilled at an inclination of minus 45° and a True azimuth of 162 degrees. Total depth of the hole was 354.0 meters. The hole experienced little deviation as it stayed within 12.5 meters of the section line for its entire length to a total downhole depth of 354.0 meters. The hole is 25 meters north of GAR-09-04 and slightly lower grade as it is located closer to the low grade area between the North and Shaft Zones at this location. It is very similar to GAR-09-05 which is located approximately 25 meters directly to the east.
GAR-10-26 was collared approximately 13 meters west of section line 13+25W and was drilled at an inclination of minus 44° to on a True azimuth of 157 degrees. Total depth of the hole was 273 meters and little deviation was experienced in the hole, with the bottom of the hole ending up almost exactly on Section line 13+25W. The hole is located between GAR-10-17 to the south and GAR-09-04 to the north and, as expected is slightly better grade than 10-17 and slightly lower grade than 09-04. The grade is consistent with mineralization seen along strike to the east along section lines 13+00W and 12+75W.
GAR-10-27 was collared approximately on Section line 13+75W and was drilled at an inclination of minus 49° and a True azimuth of 337 Degrees. Total depth of hole was 177 meters with 157 meters of core recovered below the overburden Deviation was minor with the hole staying within 5 meters of the Section line. This hole was designed to test for mineralization seen in GD86-9, previously drilled on the property by another operator and to delineate the southern boundary of the deposit within the upper 25 meters of the ore body. Mineralization seen in GD86-9 is confirmed at a lower grade with less continuity as was expected. Below 90 meters, the GAR-10-27 encountered sporadic mineralization that appears significantly better than that seen in C06-08 drilled by ValGold. Additional drilling is required in this area to reduce the current wide spaced intercepts and will be completed in 2011.
GAR-10-28 was collared approximately midway between Section lines 13+00W and 13+25W and was drilled at an inclination of minus 58° and a True azimuth of 165 degrees. Total depth was 150 meters with 141 meters of core recovered below the overburden. Deviation, if any was very minor. This hole was designed to test the existence and continuity of mineralization along the southern margin of the deposit in the vicinity of Section lines 13+00W and 13+25W. Mineralization in the upper 50 meters of the hole is lower grade than that seen in hole C06-5 and C065B and below 50 meters the mineralization in GAR-10-28 does not correspond with mineralization in GAR-10-17 about 25 meters to the west but it compares very well with mineralization in hole C07-04. From the collar to about 50 meters, it appears that the hole approximately marks the southern extent of good mineralization, however, below 50 meters; mineralization in other nearby drill holes suggests that additional mineralization may exist south of this drill hole. Additional drilling is required.
