Legend Gold will begin an extensive drilling program at its Lakanfla project (Lakanfla) in the Republic of Mali, West Africa.
The company has planned to drill up to 10,000 metres of combined reverse circulation (RC), and air core (AC) drilling at Lakanfla to analyze the strike extensions at the formerly discovered zones 1, 2, and 3 and soil, termite stack geochemical anomalies nearer to the discovery zones. The company expects to mobilize drill rig onto the property on or about April 10, 2011.
The Lakanfla is adjacent to the southern frontier of the Sadiola gold mine property and is located 10 kilometres southeast of the Sadiola main open pit, which can produce 6.5 million ounces of gold. At present, the company mines continuously at two of Sadiola's satellite orebodies, FE3 and FE4. They are sited within one kilometre of the Lakanfla permit boundary. Legend Gold has produced above 1 million ounces of gold from FE3 and FE4 pits for Sadiola.
This project includes the Lakanfla permit (24 Km2) and the Tinntiba permit (25 Km2). The main part of the company is the Lakanfla project to explore and extend its gold showings along the Sadiola gold mine strike.
As there is progress in the FE3 and FE4 orebodies at Sadiola, the company expects successful exploration at Lakanfla project.
