Breitling Oil and Gas has spud the Stepp prospect in Texas in May 2011. The company has planned to drill the Stepp NE well to a depth of around 8600' or to an adequate depth to analyze the Mississippian Chappel reef.
The location of the prospect is 7 mi southeast of the Quanah town. The rock at the Mississippian Chappel reef is a broken and frequently a vugular limestone, which is likely to be highly dolomitized.
The company expects that the well will be drilled to the total depth in around 18 days. Breitling will complete and test the well during the last week of June.
Chris Faulkner, CEO of Breitling, has commented that the company will continue to drill at the Breitling-Stepp #1 and there are some large wells in the Mississippian Chappel area. One more significant anomaly has been identified through the three-dimensional-seismic shoot in this area.
If the primary test well has commercial production, then four additional wells can also be drilled. Currently, the company has oil and gas exploration projects everywhere in the United States.
