Advanced Explorations Finishes Initial Geotechnical Drilling at Roche Bay Project

Advanced Explorations (AEI) has finished the initial geotechnical drilling round for the port development study at the Roche Bay iron project in Canada.

This geotechnical program plays a significant role in the current feasibility study at Roche Bay. This study involves the drilling of two prospective port area options in the Roche Bay.

EBA Engineering has supervised the completion of the drilling component for the offshore port study. The company has aimed to get the sediment samples from the bay and to test the bedrock below the sediments. It has designed the port development study in such a way as to establish geotechnical design limits for the planned port facility for the anchors, foundation and caissons. Split spoon samples have used the subsoil that involves standard penetration testing. AEI used NQ diamond drilling to sample the bedrock.

The company expects to begin the phase II geotechnical study in July 2011 and will focus on drilling for mine infrastructure elements.

The CEO and President of the company, John Gingerich, has stated that AEI is continuing to develop the feasibility study at the Roche Bay iron project and also continues the exploration at its Tuktu project. Currently, there are two drills coring at Tuktu and AEI is expecting the analytical results.
