Rodinia Oil has spudded its Mulyawara 1 well, which is the first well, in the Officer Basin of South Australia.
The company has commenced drilling the Mulyawara 1. It is the operator of this well and has 80% working interest in the prospect and in the well. Rodinia may probably take around six to eight weeks to drill the Mulyawara 1 well to achieve the total depth, subsequent, to which the potential hydrocarbon displays will be tested.
The location of this well is in the northwest bend of PEL 253 in the Officer Basin. It is present on the structure having a size of around 36.3 km2 as found on the seven individual two-dimensional seismic lines. The company will drill to a total depth of 2,700 m vertically to examine the Pindyin, Murnaroo, Mundallio, Emeroo and Talina, which are the five potential reservoir horizons. Aeolian Pindyin sandstone is the deepest reservoir horizon.
The company has signed a contract with Ensign International Energy Services, which comprises four firm wells. It also has an option to possess up to four further wells in the Officer Basin. Recently, further two-dimensional seismic lines has authenticated Kutjara 1, the second drilling site of the company, again and hi-graded. The location of Kutjara 1 is in the west-central part of PEL 253 that is around 35 km southeast of Mulyawara 1.
