Kirrin Resources has begun a geophysical program at the Grevet REE (rare earth element) project in northwestern Quebec.
Kirrin has held Abitibi Geophysics of Quebec, for a gravity survey completion that includes approximately 3.4 line km at 25 m station intervals. The gravity survey will enclose the sections of the project region, which has a large carbonatite body beneath the project area.
Quebec has many exciting REE drilling and sampling results, which contains the GéoMégA Ressources’ Montviel Property and Commerce Resources’ Eldor Property. Kirrin has started the exploration at its Grevet REE property in April 2010. Carbonatite dykes and dykelets’ sampling results have shown the occurrence of positive amounts of rare earth elements and comprise 1.61% LREO across 2.2 m from a broader carbonatite dyke and 14.19% TREO (total rare earth oxide) in a grab sample from a thin carbonatite dykelet.
Kirrin has proposed a phase III drilling program for its exploration at the Grevet property. The phase I drilling began in May with prospecting on main targets, which consist of sample pooling and appraisal of the potential of the exploration. Depending on the positive results, the company has planned to begin a phase II follow-up work to discover and outline the drill targets in July. The results of the phase I and II compilation and interpretation will decide the phase III drill program starting in September-October.
The company spends $1,850,000 for exploration and offers $20,000 towards expenses over four years and earns a 100% interest in the Grevet property. Recently, Kirrin has expanded its land interests. By spending $250,000 for exploration and $25,000 for expenses over four years it may possibly earn a 100% interest in the Grevet Extension project. The property currently has 2,024 ha, totaling 86 claims.
