Petrominerales Updates Drilling Opeations at Deep Llanos Basin in Colombia

Petrominerales provides exploration updates on Deep Llanos Basin, which includes Corcel, Guatiquia and South Block 31, Colombia.

The company has commenced the drilling operations at the Camoruco well, which is situated in the northeast part of the Corcel Block, in May 2011. A total measured depth of 12,960 ft was achieved in the well in June 2011. The well examined an areally widespread structural feature that is outlined from 3D seismic, which is unofficially called as the Upia Ridge, in a structurally elevated position up dip from a formerly drilled well.

Though the company encountered hydrocarbon shows during the drilling activities, no hydrocarbon pay was estimated from the well logs. As Camoruco has present day four way structural closing, the new seal probably seems to be breached, leaving remaining hydrocarbons in the potential reservoir units. The company will case the well for water disposal purposes and the drill rig will shift to the Socaco site on Block 31.

The two additional rigs, which are operating in the area, are drilling the Cobra prospect at the Babaco prospect and Corcel Block on the adjoining Block 31. The company is expecting to complete the well drilling operations in July and have the drilling results by August.

Petrominerales has produced 41,876 barrels of oil per day for the June month which is a 6% increase from May. Additionally, the Q2 production has averaged 40,334 barrels of oil per day which is consistent with the Q1 of 2011.
