Ithaca Energy Updates on Athena and Stella Development Projects

Ithaca Energy has announced the progress update of the Athena and Stella Development projects.

The company has successfully completed the operations to prepare the 14/18b-A2Z, Athena field development well for production. It has installed a dual electrical submersible pump system and a 7" production liner on top of the well’s horizontal section and the flowbase and the subsea xmas tree are prepared for the connection of flowlines with the subsea installation contractor. The drilling unit, Sedco 704, will remain on the site to commence the project’s additional completion work. At present, it is preparing to complete the 14/18b-16 well. This well is the second out of the five well programs for completion and to be executed prior to connection with the Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel, 'BW Athena'.

Ithaca, EWE Aktiengesellschaft, Zeus Petroleum and Dyas UK are the joint venture partners of Athena.

The progress of the Stella field has progressed through the contract placement with GE Oil & Gas to produce and deliver control systems and subsea trees. The company has begun the phase I comprehensive engineering work and the focus will be on the procurement of materials and forgings for the systems. The systems will be sent as a combined package and are planned to install by means of a heavy duty jackup drilling unit. The delivery of the control systems and the trees will be directed from the Aberdeen facility of GE Oil & Gas.

Moreover, the company has confirmed that the ongoing geotechnical program will decide the fitness of certain jackup drilling units at the four possible development drilling sites on the Harrier and Stella fields and includes the test boreholes to progress the proposed Hurricane appraisal well. It will choose two drill centres.

Ithaca, Challenger Minerals and Dyas UK are the joint venture partners of Stella.
