Red Eagle Mining has proclaimed the beginning of diamond core drilling at the Santa Rosa project, Colombia. The two drill rigs will complete a minimum of 10,000 m during 2011.
The exploration conducted so far involves comprehensive geological and structural mapping of more than 280 near surface audits and more than 60 significant open cut hydraulic workings, compilation and analysis of 253 soil samples and 1,732 rock samples as well as aerial radiometric and magnetic surveys and study of petrographic thin section.
The company is currently developing the work to execute an induced polarization (IP) program over the discovered primary drill target in the property’s south east sector that will be followed by expansions to the program above the whole of the radiometric and magnetic anomalous regions.
The surface drilling programs conducted have outlined the major intrusive related gold system, which has not been drilled. Mineralization is present in several veins and veinlets that are structurally-related to North-North-West and East-West that normally has mineralization of 1.2 g /t gold on an average in the oxide cap layer. Red Eagle has sampled the further high-grade mineralized layers, which are accessible through artisanal shafts in the primary rock and yields up to 98 g/t gold.
The company has found preliminary drill targets for the property’s south east sector, wherein disseminated vein systems and high-grade veins have been outlined for more than 2 km along strike and thickness up to 30 m. This trend is concurrent with notable workings, IP and surface geochemistry, anomalous aerial magnetics and high potassic alteration.
Red Eagle has completed a contract with Cabo Drilling for two diamond rigs and to drill 20,000 m. Drilling preparations have been completed at the location. At present, it has moved the drill rigs.
