Drillsearch Energy Spuds Bauer-1 Oil Exploration Well

Drillsearch Energy has spud the fourth well, Bauer-1, in the five well program after the third drilling success at the Western Flank Oil Fairway along with the oil discovery at Arno-1.

Namur Sandstone Depth Structure Map

The company has a 60% interest in PEL 91 and the operator, Beach Energy has 40% interest. So far, the company has identified three new oil wells at Arno-1, Hanson-1 and Snellings-1, the initial three oil exploration wells.

The location of Bauer-1 oil exploration well is around 5 km in the southern part of the Arno Oil Discovery and 2.5 km to Chiton Oil Field’s northern side. Bauer-1’s preliminary goal is the Namur Sandstone, which is oil productive in numerous formations in PEL 91. The Poolowanna formation, Birkhead Formation and Hutton Sandstone are believed to be the secondary oil targets and have been confirmed at Sellicks and Christies oil fields. The company will drill to a depth of 1935 mRT in total and will take 10-14 days for drilling.

Namur horizon’s seismic mapping shows that the Bauer formation has independent structural relief of around 9 m and potentially surrounds 0.8 km2. This Bauer prospect is likely to hold a potential of P10 high-side Recoverable Prospective Resource of up to 1.3 M barrels of oil in the Namur Sandstones.

The company will vertically drill the Bauer-1 conventional well with wireline logging and has planned for a potential testing after the total depth of the well is attained. It is anticipated that after spudding, the initial target zone in the Namur Sandstone will be penetrated in five to seven days.
