Bannerman Resources has received an Environmental Clearance notice from the Namibian Ministry of Environment and Tourism for the Etango Uranium Project. The company was waiting for the approval for its linear infrastructure proposal.
Len Jubber the Chief Executive Officer of Bannerman Resources said that the grant of the Environmental Clearance associated with the Etango Uranium Project, following an extensive documentation and public consultation program, demonstrates the ongoing support of the Namibian Government for the Etango Project. He thanked the Namibian Government for this latest endorsement of their impact studies, community consultation and environmental practices.
The Namibian law and environmental regulations need all stakeholders to be consulted and to give their consent for linear infrastructure before construction activities can be begun. The approval also needs a submission of an Environmental Impact Assessment on these infrastructure aspects.
The company had received environmental clearance for the Etango Project development in 2010 based on a 2009 Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. The now expanded resource area and site layout refinements will have to be added to the old assessment before being submitted for approval to the Namibian Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
