Kulczyk Oil Ventures has tested the gas at the second zone of the Olgovskoye-9 well in Ukraine and updated the O-8 well.
The location of the O-9 well is around 1.2 km to O-8 well’s northwest direction. The company has started O-9 well drilling during March, 2011 and attained a depth of 2,638 m in total in April, 2011. Initially the well was intended to examine Middle Bashkirian’s gas-bearing reservoirs and additionally increase the potential for gas production at the Olgovskoye Field.
The O-9 well testing has commenced in June when the company has perforated a thick reservoir unit of 5.5 m in the Lower Bashkirian at about 2,560 m depth. The company has perforated the R37 unit that is a two-metre section. The flow of gas at the primary test was at 1.2 MMcf/d rate through a choke of 6 mm, whereas the gas flow during second test was at 762 Mcf/d rate through a choke of 5 mm.
The company has begun analysis of the Middle Bashkirian sandstones, which are the initial target of the O-9 well, in July, 2011 when there was a perforation at two 3 m zones of one of the prospective gas zones of the Middle Bashkirian from 2,304 to 2,307 m and 2,309 to 2,312 m depths, respectively. The gas flow at these perforated intervals ranges between 1.7 MMcf/d and 4.4 MMcf/d, through a steady gas flow rate of 2.9 MMcf/d on a choke of 7 mm. It is anticipated that the tested zone, which is one of the many prospective gas producing zones of the Middle Bashkirian in the O-9 well, has to start gross commercial production at a rate of around 1.5 MMcf/d previous to the third quarter end.
At first, production from this well will be obtained from the examined Middle Bashkirian zone and gas reserves showed through the Lower Bashkirian gas zone testing will be available for production at a later date. The new O-9 well was the second well, which was drilled in the Olgovskoye field as the Company purchased the interest at the KUB-Gas during June 2010.
Currently, the company has mobilized the service drill rig to the Olgovskoye-8 well. The company has drilled the O-8 well and reached a depth of 2,780 m and obtained several prospective gas zones. The O-8 well testing will start soon, when the mobilization of the service rig is completed.
