Xmet is continuing a major channel sampling and stripping campaign at the Duquesne-Ottoman property in Quebec.
It has dug around 7,000 m3 of overburden in eight trenches, which is about a length of 75 m, thickness of 6 m and depth of 2 m. The company has planned the trenching program to reveal the mineralization and structural controls at the Shaft and 20-20 Zones.
The company completed and cleaned eight trenches. The two eastern trenches located at the 20-20 zone confirm thoroughly carbonated, fractured mafic pillowed flow in association with the feldspar-quartz porphyry. The vein trends N070° at the Shaft zone and it resembles the zone, which was examined by dipping a shallow shaft near the high-grade significant drill holes during early 1980’s. There is a consistency in the sulphide mineralization and intense alteration with the zone characteristics examined in the drill core. The company ships channel samples to the lab for rush assessment. During the second trenching phase, the gold-bearing formations will be shown along the strike between the trenches in order to permit a comprehensive sampling to substantiate the continuity of grades along the veins and fine drill hole spacing.
After the trench sampling and mapping program is completed, the company will start a major diamond drill program approximately during the middle of September.
