The Australian listed company UXA Resources has commenced its drilling exploratory program in the Nabarlek North Joint Venture project. The project is located in the Pine Creek, Northern Territory world class uranium province.
UXA Resources was granted three tenements near the old Nabarlek Uranium mine last October. Approximately 0.57 million tonnes of uranium have been mined at the Nabarlek mine in one season. The Pine Creek orogen area is considered to be a world class area with high grade uranium resources.
The reverse circulation percussion drilling program at the tenements are to take place in two phases. The first phase 1,500 metre drilling program is along two lines in the south east corner of the Nabarlek North tenement. The second phase is to follow up on the drill results from phase 1. It will cover 2,500 meters in the follow up drilling program.
Random soil and rock sampling over the 20 square km area covering the south and south eastern sections of the Nabarlek North tenement will check for anomalies through cover rocks by detecting radon gas escaping from radioactive decay of uranium.
UXA will also test the elevated surface radiometric values identified by the company's field work in late 2010.
The aim of the exploratory drilling program is to extend the potential strike length of the U40 uranium prospect at the Nabarlek North tenement.
