Aben Resources has begun a Phase I diamond drilling program, totaling 2,000 m, at its 4,114 acre Justin gold project, located in western Yukon.
This drilling will include 3 to 4 pad sites and its estimated time for completion is 4 to 5 weeks. The 2011 drilling campaign will appraise the prospective mineralization at depth in the Main, Confluence and Kangas zones and it will be the first program, which will be completed at the Kangas and Confluence zones. The activities in 2011 signify the primary systematic drilling program at the project because of the completion of a small four hole drilling campaign at the Main zone during mid-1980.
The location of the Justin gold project is 10 km southwest of the 3Ace gold project. The project has the potential to have gold mineralization hosting major sediment, epithermal and skarn. The property’s previous work has displayed this prospective and the grab samples yielded up to 59 g/t of gold. An unbroken chip sample has yielded 2.38 g/t gold on an average over 22.5 m. The company has again intersected 2.07 g/t gold over 7 m and 1.4 g/t gold over 11 m during the 2010 channel sampling.
The company will perform some mapping in the southeast and northwest edges of the property in order to fill in voids in the present data set of the company. It will also conduct geology mapping in Pow zone’s general region to track the anomalies identified during the 2010 geophysical survey. Additionally, the company will gather several rock and soil samples.
TerraLogic Exploration of Cranbrook has been contracted to supervise all the phases of the 2011 drilling and exploration campaigns at the NWT and Yukon projects. The calculated budget for this summer exploration is around $5 million.
