Lundin Petroleum has started the drilling program at the Batu Hitam prospect, which is situated in Block PM308A. This block is located offshore at the the east coastline of the Peninsular Malaysian Peninsula.

The company will examine the Batu Hitam-1 well for prospective hydrocarbon of a huge basement high formation, situated in PM308A block’s eastern part. The goals of the well are cracked pre-Tertiary cellar in the below horst block and Oligocene sandstones in a dip closure, which is four-way.
Lundin has planned to drill a depth of 2,450 m in total at the subsea and will employ the jack-up drill rig, Offshore Courageous, to drill the well. It is expecting to take around 14 days for the completion of the well.
The company has 35% interest and operates PM308A block by means of its Malaysian subsidiary, Lundin Malaysia. JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration and PETRONAS Carigali are the partners in the PM308A block with 40% and 25% interest respectively.
