Rainy River Resources has reported the assay results of the palladium and platinum from the fresh nickel discovery, which is located at the Rainy River gold project in northwestern Ontario. The company is carrying out the diamond drill program for 170,000 m during 2011.
The company has intersected 2.01 g/t platinum, 6.43 g/t palladium, 1.38 g/t gold, 9.69 g/t silver, 1.316% copper, 0.064% cobalt and 3.626% nickel over 2.35 m and 1.76 g/t platinum, 5.55 g/t palladium, 1.23 g/t gold, 8.68 g/t silver, 1.190% copper, 0.062% cobalt and 3.060% nickel over 2.85 m in the hole NR11822 drilled at Pinewood South.
Rainy River has moved a borehole electromagnetics team and has also engaged Eastern Geophysics to perform a gravity survey for defining the new discovery. Combining this data and a fresh Fugro Helitem Survey will allow the company to focus on the latest nickel discovery for a forthcoming follow up.
The CEO and President of the company, has stated that River Rainy is delighted to announce the considerable presence of palladium and platinum mineralization connected with the copper and nickel rich huge sulphide intrusion at the Pinewood South. The prospective values were improved by the addition of significant values of palladium and platinum. The plan of the company is to carry on with an aggressive exploration program at this new discovery by focusing on the high potential regions.
