BonTerra Resources has identified a fresh high-grade vein zone, called the "Rivage Zone", at the Eastern Extension property.
This discovery zone is a mineralized quartz vein, which returned 204.00 g/t of gold, 25.80 g/t of silver that are obtained from the surface outcrop sampling program, which signifies the discovery of the highest gold grade at the property. The location of this property is around 170 km to the northeast of Québec and in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
BonTerra’s President has commented that the company received consistent high-grade results from the exploration conducted at the property during 2010-2011 and clearly showed the area potential and work programs. This fresh discovery, located 700 m from the present drilling region has increased the project’s extent and size with an aim of forming a 1.2 km long prospective strike.
The company has encountered 204.00 g/t gold, 25.80 g/t silver, 0.68% lead and 0.17% zinc from the sample L282510 at the Rivage Zone.
Smoky quartz veins with sulphide mineralization are the focus of the drill program. Generally, these sulphides have the mineralized zones of 1-10% and can be as more as 30%. Carbonate, chlorite, sericite, silica and tourmaline are included in the alteration. Grouping of sulphides, quartz veins, alteration types and tourmaline is perfect for the region’s gold mineralization. Sphalerite in the quartz veins seems to be connected with the high-grade gold zones at the property.
