Romios Gold Resources has obtained the initial tranche results from the diamond drill campaign conducted at its Dirk Property, northwest British Columbia.
The company has received the drill core assays from 156 m in the hole DRK11-01, drilled to 278 m depth at the '72 zone. It has cut several zones, including considerable gold, copper and silver mineralization, in the three breccias. Romios has intersected 1.59 g/t gold, 1.19% copper and 18.84 g/t silver over 2.05 m, 0.48 g/t gold, 1.01% copper and 9.65 g/t silver over 4.13 m and 0.34 g/t gold, 1.09% copper and 6.31 g/t silver over 4.94 m. The intersections of the well-mineralized breccia are present in a 63.35 m thick sulphide mineralization, grading 0.25 g/t gold, 0.29% copper and 2.93 g/t silver, which is expanding to the surface of the southeast part of the collar of the drill hole DRK11-01.
The CEO of Romios has commented that the positive drilling results have shown the main porphyry mineralization close to the surface at the Dirk property. The occurrence of the porphyry-type mineralization at Dirk’s 72 zone and the Trex’s Tangle and North zones has been unveiled due to the efforts taken during the exploration. Further assay results are pending. Romios has planned to carry on the exploration efforts to extend the prominent mineralized zones and to examine several extra targets.
The company drilled 743 m, totaling four diamond drill holes, at the Dirk property during 2011 August. This drill program has encountered gold, copper, and silver-bearing sulphides present in breccias and intrusions that are inherently associated to syenitic intrusions resembling those at the Mount Polley project and Galore Creek project.
The company will announce the remaining drill core assay results when available.
