UnionTown Energy has drilled #42-20H well at its New Miami property, Montana and has begun pumping oil from the initial oil well at the property.
It is expected that the well will take around 10 days for stabilization of the flow-rate and tuning of the pump.
The CEO of UnionTown Energy has stated that the company is excited to commence the oil production at the property during the fourth quarter. The team is thrilled as they have upgraded their status from being just an exploration firm to an oil producer.
The New Miami #42-20H is one among two wells that UnionTown had decided to drill at this site as the company felt that there was a minimal exploration risk since the property lies on a shallow oil accumulation and is away from the two previously drilled vertical wells.
UnionTown has calculated that more than 17 horizontal wells can be housed in the New Miami property. It planned the #42-20H well in such a way that it will penetrate horizontally and expose at around 2,000 ft of the Sun River Dolomite pay zone. Additionally, the company found two secondary Madison structures during the horizontal drilling.
This New Miami property has over 1,480 A of land in the Sweetgrass Arch region in the northwest part of Montana.
