Chalice Gold Mines and Zara Mining Share have advised that the latest drill program results have validated the expansions of the high-grade mineralization occurring at the Koka South discovery, which is situated immediately towards the southern part of the flagship Koka gold deposit that is a portion of the Zara gold project, North Eritrea.
Currently, the additional two hole results were received that were drilled towards the southern part of the former drilling area. High-grade intersections were 115.33 g/t gold over 1 m and 39.25 g/t gold over 3 m in the hole ZARD 233, 21.38 g/t gold over 5 m in the hole ZARD 233, 49.64 g/t gold over 1 m and 9.73 g/t gold over 7 m in the hole ZARD 234.
The new drilling results have validated that high-grade mineralization existing at the Koka South discovery has expanded towards the depth in the south and stays open. The mineralization’s grades and thickness returned the potential to give an important underground addition to the open pit resource at Koka.
The location of the Koka South discovery remains immediate towards the Koka Main deposit’s southern part. Koka South mineralization has been outlined over 250 m of strike and stays exposed at depth and to the south.
Assays results from three further holes drilled at this zone are pending. The diamond drill program during 2011’ second half has targeted to examine the high priority targets in a corridor, whose length is 7.5 km, surrounding the Koka deposit. It will be re-started during mid-January.
