International Lithium Mobilizes RC Drilling Rig to Mariana Project

International Lithium (ILC) has mobilized a reverse circulation (RC) drilling rig to the site for the future drilling campaign at the Mariana lithium brine project, northwestern Argentina.

ILC will begin the phase I delineation drilling campaign during early January. The company has planned for a wide phase II drilling program for the subsequent year.

The company was unable to begin the drilling campaign, due to the repairs needed for the drill equipment. It was decided to start the drill campaign by early January, for conducting an efficient and cohesive work program. ILC has moved the drilling equipment to start the preparation on time.

The objective of the program has included geochemical classification of the subsurface brine across various areas in the basin, discovery of the stratigraphy for salar’s geological model and discovery and description of the basement’s aquifer potential of the salar. The plan of the company is to use this drilling campaign as an initial phase towards a resource characterization of the brine. A wide drilling campaign has been planned for the subsequent year, which will target the priority regions of the salar found through the ongoing campaign. The next phase II drilling’s aim will be to outline continuously, characterize and add to the geochemistry’s confidence level of the aquifer.
