Robex Resources announced a trenching exploration program at the Moussala permit, Southwest Mali. The exploration work at this permit will include mining of three trenches of length 100 m and depth of over 3 m, along with the completion of regolith mapping. The company has 100% rights in the permit.
The Moussala permit is situated in the southern part of Kenieba’s gold-bearing province, which is approximately 30 km towards the southern part of the Tabakoto and Loulo mine. This permit has enclosed an area of 67 sq. km. It is connected with the early Proterozoic Birimian sediment that has revealed greenschist facies metaphorphism. The structures are cut across by the igneous rock with a composition of mafic and felsic. The claim has extensive structural, geological and geochemical anomalies. The Kenieba area has been exposed to rigorous gold washing that includes Bilali Santo, which is a portion of the similar geological formation as Moussala.
Geochemical surveys showed the presence of eight anomalies during 1997 and 1998. During 2007, Robex conducted a linear trenching program of 777 m at the five anomalies. The results validated the potential of gold-mining at the permit. The three anomalies remaining are situated in the southeast and east portions, and are the program’s target.
The company will mine the trenches till saprolite is reached, wherein the samples will be tested to find if the anomalies continue towards depth. It will plan for the reverse circulation (RC) program, based on the drilling results, and will explore the potential of the depth.
