WesternZagros Resources Provides Updates on Drilling and Testing Operations in Three Wells

WesternZagros Resources provides an update about its testing and drilling operations conducted at Kurdamir-2 and Mil Qasim-1 as well as the production details at the Sarqala-1 extended well test.

The company cased the Mil Qasim-1 exploration well to 2,129 m depth. The well was drilled and logged to 2,425 m of final depth. The company is conducting a proposed testing of the Upper Fars sandstone reservoir. It performed a primary open hole drill stem test (DST) in the wellbore’s lower portion and found that the oil flowed to the surface without water. Currently, the company is conducting a second DST test in the Upper Fars within the low portion of the cased hole segment. The final testing results will be announced once the program is completed.

WesternZagros has drilled the Kurdamir-2 well to a depth of around 2,270 m through the top seal of Lower Fars. Till date, operations remain on budget and on time. It is expected that the drilling and testing program will be conducted at the Oligocene reservoir during the Q1 of 2012. The company is also expecting to drill and test the deeper Cretaceous and Eocene reservoirs by the end of Q2 of 2012.

The extended well test conducted at the Sarqala-1 has produced oil continuously, averaging more than 4,000 bopd during December. The Ministry of Natural Resources provides funds for refining the oil in the local plants. The extended well test is expected to increase the oil production in January. WesternZagros is raising the capacity of the tank in order to optimize oil production and truck loading.
