Elissa Resources has started the drill program at its Thor heavy and light rare earth element (REE) project, Nevada. The Lopez trend will be targeted by numerous diamond core drill holes. This trend has REE-bearing monazite structure, whose length is 2.6 km. A well- known magnetic anomaly is coincident with this trend.
The Thor project includes surface representations of five light rare earth elements and nine heavy rare earth elements. Both light and heavy rare earths match with magnetic anomalies, which are outlined by a comprehensive follow-up magnetic ground and aerial magnetic geophysical surveys.
REE discoveries are present in the Thor project. These discoveries are in broadly separated nine prospect localities in three sizeable and distinct discovery zones. The location of the property is in South Nevada and is around 76 km towards the southern part of Las Vegas. This project is located 28 km towards the eastern part of Mountain Pass REE mine and processing units of Molycorp Minerals.
During the phase I drilling program, the company will drill a minimum of 1,500 m at the project. The proposed drilling is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2012.
