Montero Reports on Sampling and Trenching at Wigu Hill Rare Earths Project in Tanzania

Montero Mining and Exploration Limited announced the results from a grab sampling and trenching exploratory project on the Nyati target at its Wigu Hill project.

The rare earths Wigu Hill project in Tanzania is the flagship project of the company and the Nyati target is situated north of the Tumbili target on the project.

Dr. Tony Harwood the President and CEO of Montero Mining said that the results from further sampling and trenching obtained from the Nyati target confirmed consistent mineralization and high-grade values as seen at the Twiga and Tembo Zones but in bastnaesite bearing carbonatite dikes of greater dimensions.

Dr Harwood added that the exploration work at the Nyati target would build on their initial resource estimate to prove Wigu Hill’s true potential as a sizeable rare earth deposit. Assays from 2 drill holes to test the continuity at depth were expected in the short term he said.

The Nyati target is a 400m by 800 m area that has returned results of 5.12% TREO to 26.58% TREO. The target has an average of 12.15% TREO. The bastnaesite carbonatite mineralization occurs in a sheeted dike and stockwork complex with coarse burbankite crystals. Exploration is still in progress at the site.

Besides the Wigu Hill rare earth project in Tanzania, Montero Mining has uranium assets in Tanzania and Canada. It also has phosphate assets in South Africa. The company is focused on identification, acquisition, evaluation and exploration of mineral properties.
