Superior Copper has drilled four holes at the Kincaid Breccia in later part of 2011. The company has planned to drill additional holes in early 2012. The Kincaid Breccia has not been previously drilled to test for mineralized copper.
The company intersected 2.82% copper over 2.4 m and 1.57% copper over 3.6 m of vein breccia mineralization.
The location of the Batchawana copper project is around 85 km towards the northwest part of Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario. This project contains the previously-producing Coppercorp mine. Superior Copper and First Minerals Exploration have retained adjacent claims of about 70 sq. km.
The Kincaid Breccia’s surface mapping program has identified a breccia zone mineralization over 400 m in a direction of northwest-southeast. The breccia has been analyzed and found to be within a fault contact with intrusives and mafic volcanics of the Mamainse point formation. This breccia exists near the unconformity along with Archean greenstones.
The company drilled the holes KB-01-11, KB-02-11 and KB-04-11 at an angle of -45° and KB-03-11 at -70° in the Kincaid Breccia. The Kincaid breccia is expected to contain mineralized felsite and mineralized vein breccias, based on the initial drilling results.
Superior Copper sealed and sent all sample shipments to AGAT Laboratories in Ontario for testing. Fire assay with ICP-OES finish method was used to determine gold and Aqua Regia with ICP-OES finish for analyzing silver and copper.
