Richmont Mines has reported the deep drill program results from the Island Gold Mine property.
The company discovered four main zones, which are G, C, D and E1E, between a vertical depth of -500 m and -900 m over 150 m of lateral strike, which is between the Island Main and Lochalsh zone. It encountered 22.08 g/t gold over 6.58 m in the G zone, 27.26 g/t gold over 5.88 m and 12.28 g/t gold over 7.24 m in C zone, 20.22 g/t gold over 2.05 m and 33.36 g/t gold over 2.18 m in the D zone, 16.42 g/t gold over 4.08 m and 13.39 g/t gold over 4.84 m in the zone E1E, 13.23 g/t gold over 3.67 m in the zone STH.
Richmont Mines included 25 holes and wedge over 23,000 m through the 2011 deep exploration drill program at the property and 35, 000 m of underground and surface exploration drill program will be included in the 2012 program.
According to Martin Rivard, Richmont’s CEO and President, the company received the deep drilling results from the Island Gold mine, and has validated the depth potential for this property. The results have validated the prominent zone expansions at depth. The company has planned to complete around 35,000 m of deep drill program at the property in 2012, along with the objective of creating resources within the present infrastructure.
A 20,000 m of underground drill program has been planned. The company has commenced a 1,100 m of exploration drift at the mine in order to offer effective drilling access. It is assessing various options for the potential exploration shaft construction to speed up the discovery of deep resources at the property.
