Metallum Resources declared that it has concluded its four-month bedrock channel sampling and trenching program over its high grade epithermal gold mineralization zone on its M-18 property located in Argentina.
The program’s objective was to conduct a comprehensive geologic mapping and sampling and expose additional thickness and strike, to the identified gold/silver mineralization.
The program’s results demonstrated numerous high grade gold zones with negligible silver values over major lengths. Two highlights of the trench sampling and channel sampling include trench 12 and trench 15 that show 2.0 m of 15.4 g/t gold and 38.5 m of 1.26 g/t gold, respectively. About 674 samples were collected from the outcrop and 2,881 samples were collected from the trenches. Overall, 3,555 bedrock samples were collected from this sampling and mapping program.
According to Greg Lipton, Metallum's President and CEO, the company is encouraged by the results received from the channel sampling and trenching program, which demonstrates that there is continuous gold mineralization on surface for more than a kilometer in strike, and the zone remains exposed in both directions. The company is anticipating testing these gold values at depth, including the geophysical targets in its phase 1 drilling program scheduled in the second quarter of 2012. So far, the company has explored less than 10% of the 6,300 ha M-18 property, Lipton informed.
