The Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is getting concerned about the mining industry and this is reflected in his secret meeting with Marius Kloppers, the BHP Billiton boss.
The meeting is said to have taken place in Sydney before Mr. Rudd went to Perth to pursue his government’s two key policies, health reforms and the proposed super mining tax.
BHP refuses to confirm or deny the meeting stating that the company is still requesting the government to get feedback from the mining industry to ensure benefits for all are considered.
Mr. Rudd is also understood to have arranged another secret meeting with the head of the Fortescue Metals Group, Andrew ''Twiggy'' Forrest. Mr. Rudd has been criticized very vocally by Mr. Forrest in view of the proposed super profits tax.
