Archean Star Resources has announced that the hole TB008 drilled at the Turnberry prospect was expanded to and blocked at a downhole of 374 m. The company planned to drill that hole to 350 m depth in order to examine the mineralized gold down dip from the hole GNRC008.
The location of the Turnberry prospect is in the Gnaweeda gold project. The company encountered a strong carbonate-quartz veins zone mineralization, together with mineralized sulphide that has pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite from 327 to 355 m downhole. Visible gold is found in quartz veining at around 337 m.
Currently, the company has discovered mineralized gold at different depths of the Turnberry prospect’s southern areas, along a strike of around 150 m length. Mineralization is exposed to depth and along strike. Three different high-potential gold zones are present in the Turnberry prospect. The length of each gold zone is around 500 m.
Archean found that the hole TB008 returned the visible gold at around 200 m and intersected 13.49 g/t gold over 5 m in the hole GNRC008. TB008 is located about 100 m towards the northern part of the drill hole TB003. The company intersected 8.27 g/t gold over 3 m in the hole TB003 and 17.77 g/t gold over 4 m in the hole GNRC009. Several intersections of gold were identified in the area around 50 m towards the northern part of the hole TB006, encountering 10.58 g/t gold over 2 m as the highest grade.
The company has logged and cut the TB008 core and sent the samples to Perth-based ALS Chemex Laboratories. It will announce the assay results, once received.
