BonTerra Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:BTR) (FRANKFURT:9BR) announces the receipt of the first set of gold assays for its ongoing channel sampling program on its Eastern Extension Property in the Urban-Barry Greenstone Belt of Quebec.
Gold values on the 7 samples submitted to ALS returned gold values as high as 7.27 grams per ton. Assays were conducted by ALS Chemex in Val d'Or, Quebec. The first series of channel samples have been received and are shown by the following table. After reviewing the first assay results, the company is enthusiastic regarding drilling this target as well as others as defined by the ongoing channel sampling program.
BonTerra's recent work has included ground mag, air mag, and channel sampling with the sole focus to define gold bearing drill targets. Diamond drilling will commence on the targeted area following the receipt of the drill permits, which are expected, from the government of Quebec shortly. The rig is currently mobilized on standby on the Urban Barry property and will commence drilling hole 4 (BU-10-04) of the current campaign on the Eastern Extension Property. Geologica is currently logging and splitting core from holes 1-3 (BU-10-01 to BU-10-03) and will be shipped to ALS Chemex of Val d'Or in the next few days. Geologica Inc. of Val d'Or, Québec is responsible for overseeing the drill and channel sampling program on behalf of the Company.
The Eastern Extension property has numerous non NI 43-101 compliant high grade drill intercepts. The historical drill intercepts were drilled by Xemac Resources in 1997, 1998 and 2001. BonTerra plans on twinning some of these historical drill holes in compliance with NI 43-101. In addition to this, BonTerra plans on drilling new zones defined by the channel sampling program. A selection of these historical non NI 43-101 compliant intercepts are in the table below.
Mitchell Adam, President, states, "The assays received on the channel sampling are of a tremendous benefit to the team as we work to define the extent of the system identified in 1997. We are of the belief that the Urban Barry Property and the Eastern Extension property acquired from Abitex Resources sits within a very well mineralized system and have the utmost confidence in our geological team and drill contractors to ensure our shareholders success."
The Eastern Extension property is located approximately 170 km NE of Val-d'Or and 125 km SW of Chibougamau in the Barry and Bailly townships in James Bay, Québec. Neighboring Companies in the region are Metanor, Amseco, Beaufield, Eagle Hill, Glen Eagle, Urbana and Freewest, Murgor and Noront.
